Westbridge and Sonar Real Estate avoid around 11,500 tons of CO2 emissions by 2025 at "THE SQUAIRE" at Frankfurt Airport
The Frankfurt ESG expert Westbridge Advisory / Argentus / Agradblue (Westbridge) has taken over the energy management of "THE SQUAIRE" in Frankfurt am Main on behalf of Sonar Real Estate GmbH (Sonar). The commercial property located at the airport has a total of about 140,000 sqm - of which about 93,500 sqm is office space and about 40,000 sqm is occupied by the Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn hotels. The other space includes retail and restaurant uses. Sonar has been entrusted with the asset management of the property since mid-2021.
Following a comprehensive data survey and analysis, Westbridge worked with Sonar to retender the energy supply for the landmark property. The result is a long-term, transparent and market-driven energy supply with possible switching options within the contract term. This ensures that customers can respond flexibly to changes in the market. By adapting the energy supplier, Sonar expects to avoid a total of around 11,500 metric tons of CO2 emissions for the property by 2025 through the introduction of climate-neutral green electricity.
"Not only the tense situation on the energy market, but also the missed climate protection targets of the building sector are major challenges for the industry. Against this backdrop, we still see great potential in the adaptation of energy supply," summarizes Rüdiger Salzmann, Managing Director at Westbridge.
Holger Hosang, Managing Partner at Sonar, adds: "We have already worked with Westbridge in the past and are building on a solid and trusting partnership for this project. With Westbridge at our side, we believe we are well positioned."
